"ROAD RACING." Just the words conjure up images, sounds and smells tracing a direct lineage from the birth of the automobile at the turn of the century in Europe, through the very purpose behind the origination of the Sports Car Club of America and its Club Racing program, to the truly
Golden Age of the automobile--RIGHT NOW!!

The "Sand 'n Shoes" Region, owing to our balmy weather, enjoys one of the strongest road racing programs in the country with season championship events stretching from early January through mid-November, all crowned by the annual running of the Kumho Tropical 12 Hours at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

We start our season off with our traditional Double Winter National for those drivers seeking a National Championship at the SCCA National Championship Run-Offs in Topeka, Kansas. Then our incredible regional program gets underway, with championships in sprints and endurance formats for those who choose to stay closer to home running only at Moroso Motorsports Park and Homestead-Miami Speedway. Often seamlessly combined with our strictly regional events, our sprint racers in all classes successfully compete in the SCCA Southeast Division's exciting South Atlantic Road Racing

Championship
(earning a coveted berth in the SAARC Invitational Challenge) and our many endurance aficionados can display their consistent quickness in both the long-running Endurance Racing Championship (ECR). From Spec Racer Ford, fast growing Spec Miata to Vintage racing machines from the glorious past, there's a class of equipment that will interest you running in the Florida Region.

Every sport needs fresh participants and perspective. The Florida Region is no different and holds several Drivers Schools each year where those with a fascination for getting on the inside of the sport can learn from some of the best drivers and instructors in the business. It's easy to get started on a SCCA Racing license. Just fill out a Florida Region SCCA Membership Application, apply for a Novice permit, get your physical and attend an accredited Drivers School; or, more simply, follow the SCCA Racing Guide.

Enough said. Come on down!! Get some sand in your shoes!! We'd love to have you join us as a driver, race official, worker or spectator, as the Florida Region does its part to further the lineage of the greatest sport on Earth--ROAD RACING!!
